What Happend To…
The image below comes from a letter sent to Education Reform Now supporters at the end of 2010. The year 2011 is over now, and those two reports ERN planned to publish in 2010 haven’t come out yet: the “Grading State Leaders” report and the report on teacher union political power:
It is entirely possible that:
- these were examples in the sense that they were things that could be done; or
- these were reports that ERN wanted to publish, but didn’t have the time/manpower/money to tackle; or
- the organization changed priorities for some other reason (e.g. in response to state/federal realized or potential policy changes); or
- ERN is still working on the reports.
However, I can’t help but wonder if the reports were either shelved or shared only in private. The teacher union political power report, in particular, may have seemed like an okay idea at the end of 2010, but the events in Wisconsin (Walker entered office in January) and a few other states may have forced ERN to reconsider.
