The Ravenel and Elizabeth Curry Foundation made a $50,000 donation to Education Reform Now in 2007.
Do keep in mind that Ravenel Curry and Ravenel Boykin Curry are two different people: Ravenel Curry (III) is married to Elizabeth Curry, and Ravenel Boykin Curry (IV) is married to Celerie Curry. The younger half of the father-son duo is a DFER donor, but the elder Curry also donated to ERN and other education-related organizations. You can get a quick peek at their election donations here. The easiest way to tell the two apart is to look at the zip code: Curry III is in 10019 and Curry IV is in 10022. [Note: it's not quite as simple as looking at the zip code, but that's a good starting point. Eagle Capital Management is located at 499 Park Avenue in 10022; the younger Curry's residence is also in 10022, but the address is 106 Central Park South. In at least a few instances - here, for example - the elder Curry lists Eagle Capital Management as his address, not his residence in 10019]
Certain 990s filed by the Ravenel and Elizabeth Curry Foundation (2006, for instance) provide topical summaries for their donations (education, arts, social services, etc – very broad). A few education policy organizations are listed as recipients of donors over the years: Alliance for School Choice, Center for Education Reform, Excellent Education for Everyone, BAEO, and the Cato Institute. Other think tanks receiving donations include the Manhattan Institute (Ravenel also serves on the board of trustees) and the American Enterprise Institute, but not for education policy issues. The younger Curry and DFER’s Kevin Chavous are on the board of the Alliance For Choice, and Chavous is on CER’s board of directors.
